Homeschooling is the absolute best education a child can recieve. A close second is the Kenzy Projects. We create an environment to bring out the best in each child in as many ways as we can. Here are a few examples of how we allow students to learn differently.
I've never known anyone who had to use their knowledge of Haiku poems or triangle names in any situation in life, and yet these are taught to every student in elementary. Sadly important life skills like cooking, gardening and building are not. Kenzy Kids learn life skills every day and in every subject.
Everybody knows what happens when a parent gifts a child a car. It is inevitably wrecked in some way. When you are just given something, you don't understand the true value of it and don't treat it with respect. Kenzy Kids will earn their opportunities for two reasons: It feels great to earn and it feels great to work.
At a swimming pool, all the swimmers are in groups according to their ability, regardless of their biological age, the way they are in public schools. This makes so much more sense since everyone can learn to float, glide and swim at the same time. Even better than grouping this way is allowing each child to work at their own level.
I've been fortunate enough to have a mind that sees patterns and shortcuts that make learning easy. I've also learned skills from the fastest minds on the planet. There are ways to learn and remember that are 10x faster (at least) than what is taught in the public system. Instead of counting fingers for years and never really learning the times tables, student think in pictures and patterns to learn them in just a few hours.
When you understand something, it is so much easier to learn. Whether it's parts of speech, math formulas or key signatures, Kenzy Kids are taught to understand before they remember. This makes so much more sense that just rote memorization.
It baffles me that public teachers decide when it's the best time for a student to learn something. They believe they know the year and month when a child is ready to learn something like the area of a triangle. The reality is that kids can learn at any time. We make sure the resources are there for them, whenever they need them, especially the important ones.
Kids should be able to find the information they need when they need it. In the public system, resources are scheduled. Teachers choose the month, day and hour when a child sees a page in a textbook . Kenzy Kids can access resources when they are ready to learn. A chord chart is always available so they can learn, study or practice at any time. Here are some cooler versions of our learning resources.
